Happy Days was a sitcom that aired on ABC from January 1974 to September 1984, with a total of 255 half-hour episodes. Created by Garry Marshall, the series portrayed life in the mid-1950s to mid-1960s in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It starred Ron Howard as Richie Cunningham, Henry Winkler as Fonzie, and Tom Bosley and Marion Ross as Richie's parents. The series began as an unsold pilot starring Howard, Ross and Anson Williams, which aired in 1972 as a segment entitled "Love and the Television Set" on ABC's anthology show Love, American Style. The series spawned spin-offs Laverne & Shirley and Mork & Mindy during its eleven seasons.
