July 8 - The Bad News Bears in Breaking Training movie premieres.

July 9 – Alice Paul, suffragist, dies. (b. 1885)

July 11 - President Carter posthumously awards the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.  Coretta Scott King accepts the award at a White House ceremony.

July 13 – The New York City blackout of 1977 lasts for 25 hours.

July 13 - The Spy Who Loved Me and The Island of Dr. Moreau movies premiere.

July 15 - The Happy Hooker Goes to Washington movie premieres.

July 17 - The Deep movie premieres.  The shipwreck featured in the movie was actually the R.M.S. Rhone, which sank in 1867 off the coast of Salt and Peter Islands in the British Virgin Islands with 125 of 135 of her crew losing their lives. The R.M.S. Rhone broke into two pieces during the sinking. This movie was filmed at the bow section of the ship, located about seventy-five feet underwater.

July 18 - The Better Sex game show debuts on ABC.

July 19 and 20 – Flooding in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, caused by massive rainfall, kills over 75 people and causes billions in damage.

July 22 - Orca and The Hills Have Eyes movies premiere.

July 24 – Led Zeppelin plays their last U.S. concert in Oakland, California at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. A brawl erupts between Led Zeppelin's crew and promoter Bill Graham's staff, resulting in criminal assault charges for several of Led Zeppelin's entourage including drummer John Bonham.

July 28 – The first oil through the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System reaches Valdez, Alaska.

Yep, I'm Your Boogie Man in June 1977!

A number one hit on the Cash Box Top 100 list in June 1977 was 'I'm Your Boogie Man' by KC and the Sunshine Band.  The group has had a total of 5 number 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100.

June 1 - The Grateful Dead Movie premieres.

June 3 - Fraternity Row movie premieres.

June 4–5 – Humboldt Park riot in Chicago between the local Puerto Rican community and the police.

June 5 – The Portland Trail Blazers defeat the Philadelphia 76ers 109–107 to win the NBA finals 4–2. Bill Walton is named series MVP.

June 5 - The 31st Tony Awards is held.  Best Play award is given to The Shadow Box.  Best Musical award is given to Annie.

June 8 - The Other Side of Midnight movie premieres.

June 10 – James Earl Ray (Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassin) escapes from Brushy Mountain State Prison in Petros, Tennessee (he is recaptured on June 13).

June 10 - For the Love of Benji and Grand Theft Auto movies premiere.

June 13 - It's Anybody's Guess tv series premieres on NBC.

June 15 - A Bridge Too Far movie premieres.

June 24 - Herbie Goes to Monte Carlo movie premieres.

June 25 – Roy Sullivan is struck by lightning for the 7th time.

June 26 - Around 200,000 protesters march through the streets of San Francisco, protesting Anita Bryant's anti-gay remarks and the murder of Robert Hillsborough.

June 26 - Elvis Presley performs his last-ever concert, in Indianapolis, Indiana's Market Square Arena.

June 30 – Women Marines disbanded; women are integrated into regular Marine Corps.

May 7 - Quark tv series premieres on NBC.

May 9 – James Jones, author, dies. (b. 1921)

May 10 – Joan Crawford, actress, dies. (b. 1904)

May 13 - The Car movie premieres.

May 16 – A 20-passenger S-61L topples sideways at takeoff from the roof of the Pan Am Building in Midtown Manhattan. Four passengers are killed by the turning rotors and a woman at street level is fatally struck by a fallen blade.

May 19 - The original Orient Express's last direct passenger trip from Paris to Istanbul concludes.
